How to make you outfit Christmas worthy
December is almost upon as that’s why it’s time to talk about your Christmas outfit! The holiday season is the perfect opportunity for all of us to indulge in some shopping! It’s time to get that special piece you’ve been eyeing but don’t know where you wear it or something a bit more expensive, everything is allowed before Christmas!
Christmas season is full of parties, outings with friends and family. Planning your outfits to be both in fashion and festive, without being too much, can be quite a challenge. That’s why I’m here to show you some the pieces I discovered. From fluffy sweaters to sequin dresses and fun accessories let’s see what you need to buy this season!
My number one choice this year for a casual Christmas outfit is an “ugly” sweater. I’m being honest when I say I have never worn one and until recently I had no intention of ever buying one but life surprises us. When I saw a couple of design at the menswear department at H&M I instantly fell in love…I saw it as a challenge.
“Ugly” sweaters are so misunderstood. Most women wouldn’t wear them outside the house but I’m going to make a difference and make a nice and cute outfit you can wear to go for a casual outing with your friends.
Since, I’m styling a casual outfit and we want our “ugly sweater” to take center stage I would choose a pair of jeans and ankle boots. There are so many designs and colors for “ugly” sweaters you can choose the color of your shoes accordingly. A red sweater with a pair or red ankle boots would make the most Christmas-y outfit!
A second option for an even cuter outfit would be a mini skater skirt with over the knee boots. If you want to know I’m partial to the skirt option!
Sequin Skirt (or trousers)
The perfect way to elevate an otherwise simple outfit is one word away…sequins! A sequin skirt is one of the most classic ways to incorporate the sequin trend in your Christmas outfit. Pair it with your favorite oversized sweater and you’re ready for a nice evening out.
On the other hand, if you’re getting ready for your next Christmas party I have the perfect idea for you. A sequin suit is the way to go! Feel like it’s a bit too much shine for you? Keep the pants and ditch the blazer! I like to think sequin pants as a modern, more sophisticated way to upgrade a party look!
Christmas season a.k.a. Party Season needs an impressive party dress! A dress that matches your personality and makes you feel good about yourself. You can go for something shiny or something minimal, like a classic LBD! Add some fancy accessories and you’re good to go!
Christmas is also the time to bring out all the velvet. A velvet dress is the perfect way to look festive and chic at the same time. If you don’t have one maybe it’s time to invest in on. You definitely won’t regret it.
Want to be festive and in fashion? Choose to wear the (faux) leather trend. A leather, A-line skirt makes the perfect base for a casual outfit. Wear it with a nice knit or a top with puffed sleeves for an even cuter outfit. Christmas is the season to be cute.
Nevertheless, if being cute isn’t for you I have the answer. Let’s take some inspiration from Camilla Cohen and style a faux leather, sleeveless jumpsuit with a knit in an interesting color! I loved the idea as soon as I saw it on Instagram so I just had to recreate it. Unfortunately, I was 500€ short to buy the Revolve jumpsuit and I was kind of bumped until I stumbled upon a sleeveless jumpsuit at Bershka and I really liked and I’m definitely buying it!
You’re on a budget and you don’t want to spend more money on new pieces for the holidays? Don’t despair! (I know you didn’t!) I found the perfect accessories to spice up your outfit this season without spending much.
In a quick visit to my local H&M I fell in love with the new Christmas earrings in shapes like Christmas balls and present bows! I’m definitely getting myself a pair.
Also, pearls on hair accessories can elevate your outfit as well as a simple, velvet ribbon or a velvet bow on your hair. Have fun with your accessories and get into the Christmas spirit!
