The autumn color we should all be wearing
A New color trend is in town and I have to admit I’m obsessed!! Fashion week season is almost over and a quick look at all the major fashion IT girls out there you can tell a new color trend has emerged just in time for autumn!
Is it yellow? Is it orange? Is it brown? Well it can’t be one common color! Let’s be honest all the new, cool color trends that come and go every year need a new, cool name! In our case and according to Pantone the newest fashion obsession is something between Sugar Almond and Terracotta. I admit every time I spell them it makes me think of croissants and macarons and the Italian countryside!! Who doesn’t want to wear such colors? I definitely want to.
Now let’s make things a bit more clear because the truth is «Sugar Almond» doesn’t exactly reveal much about the actual color we’ll be wearing!
Color Names
Sugar Almond: it’s a warm brown with some hints of warm orange in it! Are you thinking about sugared almonds too? Because I definitely am.
Terracotta: now I totally understand where this name came from. I’m thinking about small Tuscan villages with perfectly lined red terracotta tiles. So when we’re talking about terracotta color we’re talking about a reddish brown that sometimes can become almost orange (but you know, good orange).
As I mentioned in the beginning, I keep seeing these kinds of colors a lot on Instagram. Every major fashion blogger, influencer or instagrammer has chosen at least one piece in these shades to wear during fashion week season and the more I was seeing it the more I was falling in love. Now I can officially say it has become one of my favorite autumn color trends of the season.
How to wear it
Now let’s see how some of my favourite influencers wore it!
Olivia Palermo: I can’t begin to tell you how much I LOVE this combination of the terracotta blazer and matching slip skirt! And since the difference is in the details this light blue scarf makes all the difference.
Camila Coelho: She opted not for one but two outfits in the above shades including a night outfit with a blazer and mini dress paired with brown, croc boots (an other trend for 2019) and a more casual outfit featuring an amazing asymmetrical skirt! It can’t get more autumn than that.
Leonie Hanne: one of my personal favorite fashion girls out there, she opted for a top in a more orange-y hue. If you’re not ready to embrace this new trend in full you can always take inspiration from Leonie and go for only one piece.
Also, if orange scares you, which is totally understandable, can always choose pieces in the sugar almond category which are more brown and less orange.
Now I know you may think that these colors are difficult to wear because you need special pieces to match them but you’re definitely wrong. Terracotta shades can be paired with quite a number of colors, you just need to know one basic fact: we are talking about earthly colors and thus you can pair it with pretty much any color found in nature.
For a classy and not too loud outfit you can go for light beige or yellow colors as well as basic black or white pieces. You definitely can’t go wrong there. Also, dark greens and blues are options that make good combinations for a less basic and more interesting outfit.
Till next time!
