Organize your Wardrobe
What woman doesn’t have a love/hate relationship with her closet? We all love buying new things but when it actually comes down to organizing all the new and old pieces things get a bit complicated. But it doesn’t have to be! It’s time to organize your wardrobe once and for all.
Since most of you are spending A LOT of time in your house what better way to pass the time and be productive at the same time. Organizing your wardrobe can be a great way to pass the time.
Since I don’t see myself getting anywhere fun until at least the end of April or early May I decided to pack my winter clothes a little earlier and organize my closet with all my spring/summer pieces.
So basically I broke up the whole process in 5 simple steps:
- Empty your closet of all things
- Clean your closet
- Declutter all your clothes
- Organize your wardrobe according to your closet space
- Make plans to keep your wardrobe organized
Now let’s analyze its step a little bit more.
1 . Empty your closet of all things
Who hasn’t shoved a top or skirt into the closet in a hurry only to not be able to it when you actually needed it! We all shove things when we’re in a hurry or really bored! So time to take all the pieces out and take things from the start.
One if you plan on switching your winter clothes with summer pieces you should store the winter ones properly before unpacking the summer. Don’t put anything inside the closet just yet.

2 . Clean your closet
Now I feel like many people skip this step but you definitely shouldn’t. Make sure you clean every surface properly including the walls, racks and any shelves your closet may have.
3 . Declutter all your clothes
Now this is definitely my favorite step. A lot of clothes doesn’t necessary mean a lot of outfit options. Time to find your inner minimalist!
Make sure you focus on the pieces that you actually wear and that they fit with your style. If you’re not sure you can always follow my tips on How to find your personal style.
If you’re not sure where to start find the pieces you haven’t worn for at least a year and set them aside. Next find the clothes you love and wear most.

Don’t keep things you “may wear” or “may need one day” keep only those you are sure you will be wearing.
You can always donate or resell the clothes you are no longer wearing or even repurpose them.
4 . Organize your wardrobe according to your closet space
Now that you found the pieces you’re keeping it’s time to actually organize them. An easy way to organize your wardrobe is to use various closet organizers like multi-level hangers, shoes racks and hanging shelves. You can find all these and many more online in stores like IKEA. Bookcases are great to store handbags and shoes and have them on display!
Also, keep your most worn clothes are at the front and tuck away your least worn at the back. Simple right? Make sure you hang clothes that are easily wrinkled and fold clothes that take a lot of space like sweaters and jeans.

5 . Make plans to keep your wardrobe organized
Now that your closet looks clean and organized the hard part is to keep it that way! It’s not like it’s never going to get messy again but you can make sure you don’t have to spend hours organizing it all over again.
Choose a day every week to maintain it clean and organized. A few minutes every week are enough to keep your things well organized.

Very helpful. I didn’t think about cleaning the walls and shelves after emptying out my closet, or about setting a weekly schedule to maintain it.
