Polka Dots for Spring 2020
It’s not like polka dots are something new or groundbreaking but it is definitely here to stay. I think polka dolt has become a constant in our wardrobes and we see it every year in small doses but every now and then this patten comes into our lives and runways full force. Like now when we’ll be seeing a lot of Polka Dots for Spring 2020! We saw polka dots in a lot of major fashion houses both in classic ways as well as more unexpected combinations.
If you’re a classic girl you can always stay true to the classic and classy black and white combinations or you can experiment by following the trends set by houses like Gucci and Balenciaga and play with different color combinations. I saw total outfits in blue and white (which are major color trends for SS20) polka dots by Balenciaga, red and purple polka dot suit by Gucci, pink and yellow dresses by Carolina Herrera as well as many accessories.
I do know we’re still in the middle of winter (even though it doesn’t really feel like winter where I live) but I decided challenge myself to try and bring this spring trend into winter. I have to say I loved the final result a lot! Also, I’m quite new to layering I thought it was the perfect opportunity to see what I can do! I consider it a successful challenge!
The main piece was of course my polka dot, midi dress which is a vintage piece I got from my mother and I love it!!! Now, this dress isn’t actually strapless I just hid them and made it look strapless because I thought I looked better this way.
“Always pick one piece of clothing and build your outfit around this particular item!”
Since I wanted to build my whole look around this dress, I started looking for a top to wear under it. I tried a couple of things before deciding on the button down. So before wearing something make sure you try different things because the image in our heads doesn’t always reflect the reality.

Some other options I rejected was a black and a white turtleneck as well as a striped shirt, which I found really interesting. Just because I rejected them it doesn’t mean you should too, it always depends on the dress and your personal taste.

Now that we have our two basic pieces time to accessorize. I didn’t want to go overboard since, as I said before, I am new to layering but I would like to try a belted blazer next time. This time I just added a nice biker jacket and boots to make it feel more like a winter outfit. As for the rest of the accessories you can play as you like and add your personal touch to your outfit!
